A Hunterdon County individual was held up and robbed at gunpoint in downtown Jersey City by a homeless man recently. The individual who was robbed had given the homeless man a few dollars and was then subsequently held up at gunpoint and robbed of about $3,000 according to media reports.
The star ledger reported that the individual that was robbed was in his vehicle stopped in traffic when he rolled down the window to hand the man a few dollars. When the homeless man saw an envelope full of cash, he pulled out a gun and pointed it at the individual in the vehicle, taking the envelope full of cash.

Armed robbery is a theft from a person with force or the threat of the use of force from that individual. In the state of New Jersey, an individual who is convicted of robbery can face between five and 20 years in state prison, depending on the specific circumstances.
Robbery is a crime of the second degree if the individual commits a theft with the use or threatened use of force. A second-degree crime carries between five and ten years in New Jersey state prison upon conviction. However, if the individual is armed with a deadly weapon during the course of the robbery, inflicts serious bodily injury or threatens to kill anyone during the robbery, they will be guilty of a crime of the first degree and may face between ten and 20 years in state prison upon conviction.
Criminal Defense for Armed Robbery Charges
Obviously, various defenses to robbery can be raised, depending upon the particular facts and circumstances.
