Belmar

Former Prosecutors and a Certified Criminal Defense Lawyer Defending Your Rights

Belmar Criminal and Traffic Offense

A vibrant shore town, Belmar offers some of the most popular nightlife spots on the shore including DJ’s, Bar A, and the Boathouse Bar and Grill to name just a few. Unfortunately, sometimes a good time out can get a little out of hand and lead to contact with the police and even being arrested. If this has happened to you, you can count on the criminal defense attorneys at Clark & Clark to stand up for you and safeguard your rights.

Typically, our clients are charged with criminal offenses that include aggravated assault, simple assault, domestic violence, disorderly conduct, harassment, criminal mischief, shoplifting, theft, underage possession of alcohol, providing alcohol to minors, and possession or distribution of marijuana or prescription drugs like Oxycodone and Roxicodone. The Belmar Municipal Court Judge has discretion to sentence anyone convicted of these criminal offenses and other criminal offenses (also referred to as “disorderly persons offenses”) to as much as 6 months in county jail.

All traffic offenses occurring in Belmar are also heard in the Belmar Municipal Court. We have successfully defended our clients against many traffic summonses for violations including DUI or DWI, Speeding, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, and Driving Without Car Insurance. These offenses can carry hefty fines, loss of driving privilege in the State of New Jersey, and in some cases even jail.

Former Prosecutors – We Have The Experience with Belmar Cases

With over 35 years of criminal trial experience our lawyers have handled literally thousands of these types of criminal and traffic cases. In many cases they have succeeded in having cases completely dismissed once they have reviewed the discovery in the case and negotiated a dismissal with the municipal prosecutor. In other cases we have gone to trial and won.

In cases where the evidence against our clients is very strong, our attorneys have nevertheless been able to successfully advocate on behalf of our clients, and convince prosecutors to reduce the initial charges to a local Borough Ordinance. Every town has local ordinances that allow you to avoid a criminal record and the ramifications stemming from a criminal conviction. For instance, in a charge for disorderly conduct can often be amended to a “Excessive Noise” type of ordinance.

When it comes to something as important as protecting your record from the negative effects of a criminal offense you need to hire the right people for the job. Our attorneys have the years of trial and negotiating experience necessary to protect your rights.
